A residential apartment in Budapest is to be transformed into a contemporary living environment tailored to the specific requirements of an international client. The bespoke interior design unfolds across 150 square metres, conceived to accommodate foreign professionals from the film industry working in Budapest.
The design approach prioritises the preservation of the building’s original architectural character, while thoughtfully enhancing it through the integration of distinctive Hungarian elements, reinterpreted in a contemporary context. Carefully curated design objects, materials, and textures contribute to the creation of a refined yet welcoming interior, resulting in a unique and characterful living space.

The biggest challenge was the layout. The original plan had a tiny second bedroom and a completely different kitchen configuration. AHA took a risk and proposed a kitchen without direct access to the outside, bringing natural light in through two new openings and a glass-brick structure. It allowed AHA to create a beautiful, light-filled second bedroom surrounded by windows, with its own walk-in wardrobe — while turning the kitchen into a bright, central part of the home.
